
Rough Start Washes Redbirds in Loss to Tides

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds continued a 13-game homestand and a six-game series with a 12-4 loss to the Norfolk Tides (Triple-A, Baltimore Orioles) on Friday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Starting pitcher Michael McGreevy (2-4) allowed eight runs on seven hits, walked three and struck out two in 1.2 innings pitched. The eight runs allowed are the most the right-handed pitcher has allowed this season. Seven hits and three walks are each one off of a season high.
Third baseman Jared Young, right fielder Jordan Walker and center fielder Victor Scott II each excelled at the plate. Young went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs, a walk and run scored. Walker smacked a double, drove in a run and scored once. Scott II reached base three times with an RBI triple, two walks and a run scored.
MLB Rehabbing designated hitter Matt Carpenter went 0-for-2 with two walks and a run scored in his fourth appearance of the series.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to continue a 13-game homestand and six-game series against the Norfolk Tides on Saturday, May 11 with first pitch for 3:05 p.m. CDT.
