Rookies Hemingway, Black Reassigned from Worcester (AHL) by St. Louis (NHL)

Peoria, Ill. (January 23, 2004) – Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie forward Colin Hemingway and rookie center Greg Black have been reassigned from the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate – the Worcester IceCats – by their NHL parent club, the St. Louis Blues.

Hemingway – a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan – collected six assists in five games with a +5 plus/minus with the Rivermen in late November 2003; he posted his first professional point at home against Cincinnati on November 22. The 23-year-old has appeared in 13 games for Worcester this season with two goals. The eighth round (221st overall) draft choice of the Blues in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft enjoyed a four-year NCAA Division I career at the University of New Hampshire.

Black – a 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Kamloops, British Columbia – tallied an assist in three games with the Rivermen with 14 PIM in late November 2003. The 21-year-old center has notched two points (1g, 1a) and racked up 66 PIM in 16 games with Worcester. He was signed as a free agent by the Blues on March 20, 2003.

Black enjoyed a four-year Major Junior "A" hockey career with the Western Hockey League's (WHL) Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Rivermen face off against the archrival Dayton Bombers tonight and tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. CT at the Nutter Center. The Rivermen are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League.
