Express Make Changes to Roster
January 23, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Roanoke Express News Release
ROANOKE, VA â Roanoke Express Head Coach Tony MacAulay announced today that the team has made four changes to its roster. The Express signed forward Neil Posillico to a contract, traded forward Jeremy Kyte to the Greenville Grrrowl, placed forward Joe Dusbabek on the 7-Day Injured Reserve list, and activated forward Rob Snowball from the 7-Day IR.
Posillico comes to Roanoke from the Elmira Jackals of the United Hockey League where the 21-year-old skated in 23 games, scoring two goals and collecting 132 penalty minutes. Posillico, a native of Syosset, NY, is in his second professional season, after making his pro debut in 2002-03 with Amarillo of the Central Hockey League. "The size and toughness of Neil gives us an added presence on the ice" said MacAulay. Prior to joining the professional ranks Posillico spent two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Oshawa ('99-'01) and Barrie ('00-'01), and one year in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Victoriaville ('01-'02).
In addition, the Express traded Kyte to the Grrrowl for cash considerations. Kyte scored 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) in 39 games with Roanoke this season. This season is the 25-year-old's fifth professional campaign. The Grrrowl becomes the fourth team in the ECHL Kyte has skated with in his career.
Rounding out the changes was the addition of Dusbabek on the 7-Day IR, and the activation of Snowball from the 7-Day IR. Dusbabek, a 25-year-old Fairbault, MN native is out of action for close to three weeks with a torn meniscus in his left knee. "The timing of this injury to Dusbabek is unfortunate because of how well he has been playing lately" added MacAulay. However, it was decided by all parties involved that it was best for him to rest his injury now, rather than risk further injury down the road."
Snowball returns to the Express line-up after missing over a month with a fractured jaw. The Injury was sustained on December 14 at Greenville. Overall, the 22-year-old has skated in seven games, and has scored one goal with the Express this season.
