
Wildcatters Lose 5-1 to IceGators

Beaumont, TX (January 23, 2004) â The Texas Wildcatters hosted the Louisiana IceGators for the third consecutive time at Ford Arena, falling 5-1. Louisiana took advantage of a four-minute spearing penalty by Tony Lawrence as Rod Sarich tallied his third goal of the season. The lone goal of the period was assisted by Samir Ben-Amor and Jamie Johnson. Wildcatters netminder Davis Parley turned away 19 of the 20 shots he faced in the opening period.
Armands Berzins doubled the IceGators' lead at the 8:11 mark of the second period with his eighth goal of the year. After two periods of play, Parley had 35 saves.
Louisiana increased their lead to three at the 3:15 mark of the third as Bobby Brown took a pass from Alex Materukhin and Maxime Fortunus to tally his 19th goal of the year. Brad Fraser scored the Wildcatters only goal of the night at the 5:57 mark of the final stanza as he recorded his fourth goal of the season. The power-play goal was assisted by Rob Guinn and Rae Metz. The IceGators put the game out of reach at the 14:06 mark of the final stanza as Brian Herbert scored a breakaway goal from Jamie Johnson. Louisiana added one more goal at the 16:07 mark as Brown tallied his second goal of the night. Parley suffers the loss despite turning away 45 of the 50 shots he faced.
