Harrisburg, PA - Washington Nationals 2B Ronnie Belliard has joined the Harrisburg Senators for a rehab assignment. He was officially added to the roster today.

Belliard, 33, has been on the major-league Disabled List since May 16th with a strained left calf. This is in his 11th major-league season, his second with the Nationals. Last year with Washington, he hit .290 with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs. Belliard was an American League All-Star for the Cleveland Indians in 2004. He has spent time with the Brewers, Rockies, Indians, Cardinals and Nationals.

This is the second major-league rehab for the Senators this year. Nationals 1B Dmitri Young was with Harrisburg for three days in May recovering from a back injury.

The Senators host Bowie in a three-game weekend series. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:35 PM with fireworks to follow the game, presented by WINK-104 and Verizon Wireless. Saturday's game begins at 6:05 PM with an adult T-shirt giveaway sponsored by Kessler's Foods and 93.5 WTPA. The series concludes Sunday in a 1:05 PM start on Family Day, courtesy of Ollie's Bargain Outlet and The Patriot-News. Sunday is also Army Day, with an iPod giveaway each inning.

This weekend's series is a clash of the top two teams in the Eastern League's Southern Division. Entering play on Friday, the Senators have a half-game lead over the Baysox atop the Southern Division standings.
