ALTOONA, PA- The Defenders' struggles continued from home to the road as they dropped their first game against the Curve in ten innings, 1-0.

Joey Martinez turned in another fantastic start for Connecticut Defenders as he went seven scoreless innings, scattered only three hits, walked none and struck out five en route to another no-decision.

On the other side of the ball was Yosman Herrera who dazzled for Altoona. Herrera also received a no-decision for his performance where he lasted eight innings, allowed just four base hits, walked zero and struck out six.

The Defs offense could never get going in the ballgame, as they reached third base only one time throughout the duration of the game.

Travis Ishikawa continued to slap the baseball as he cranked a double in the seventh inning, extending his extra-base hit streak to four. Ishikawa, consequently has had a base hit in eight consecutive games- the longest streak for the Defs in 2008.

The silence was finally broken in the home half of the tenth as Luis Cruz reached base on a error by Defender shortstop Jake Wald. Cruz scored the winning run on a base knock off the bat of Shelby Ford as the Curve celebrated a 1-0 win.

The Defenders will face off against Altoona on Saturday at 7:05pm. Tune into each and every exciting pitch at ctdefenders.com or on the Defenders Radio Network.
