Fisher Cats lose to Erie

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


Manchester, NH- Travis Snider went 2-for-4 with a double and a single but the Fisher Cats fell to Erie 9-4 before 6,324 Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Snider hit a two-run double to left field in the bottom of the third inning off winning pitcher Josh Rainwater (4-2) to tie the game at 2-2. New Hampshire (22-38) then took the lead on a Jacob Butler single and an error scored Snider.

Erie (25-36) scored two runs in the top of the second inning off starter and losing pitcher A. J. Wideman (3-8). Dusty Ryan (3-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R) singled to start the inning. Kody Kirkland (4-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) homered to put the SeaWolves up 2-0.

Will Rhymes (2-for-3, 3 RBI, SF) tied the score at 3-3 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning.

Dusty Ryan hit a two-run homer off Wideman in the fifth inning, and Justin Justice added a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning to put the SeaWolves up 6-3.

Erie added three more runs off reliever Jamie Vermilyea in the top of the seventh inning to make it 9-3.

New Hampshire added an unearned run in the eighth inning. Anthony Hatch (3-for-4) singled and scored when Eric Nielsen reached on an error by 3B Kody Kirkland.

Rainwater allowed three runs, two earned, in 5 innings to pick up the win. He allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out six batters.

Juan Cedeno, Matt Righter and Anthony Tomey worked the final four innings, allowing just the one unearned run.

The series continues Saturday night at 7:05pm. RHP Andrew Kown (3-6, 5.28) starts for the SeaWolves against New Hampshire RHP Scott Richmond (4-5, 5.46). Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
