Lucky Sevens...After falling behind 5-1 after five innings last night, the Aeros responded in impressive fashion by scoring the final seven runs of the game en route to an 8-5 triumph over New Hampshire in the finale of the three-game series. Akron claimed the final two games of the set and enjoyed a solid offensive performance all three nights, scoring 20 runs in the series. Last night the Aeros got two big "answer-back" runs in the top of the sixth inning, and took the lead for good with three runs in the seventh. 3B Wes Hodges drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 5-5 in that inning, and RF Bronson Sardinha followed with the go-ahead sacrifice fly before Akron tallied a pair of insurance runs in the eighth. The Aeros improved to 12-15 on the road and 12-22 when the opponent scores first last night, and the club also matched its high-water mark of the season at five games over the .500 mark. After reaching the break-even mark for the first time at 21-21 on May 21st Akron has not slipped below .500 since.

Huffing and Puffing...The Aeros made a roster move today, promoting Eastern League ERA leader David Huff to Class AAA Buffalo and receiving LHP Scott Lewis to replace him on the active roster. Huff had been downright dominant for Akron this season, going 5-1 with a league-leading 1.92 ERA in 11 games (10 starts). He led the staff in innings pitched (65.2), strikeouts (62), WHIP (0.88), and batting average against (.189), and was tied with Frank Herrmann for the team lead in wins. Lewis was scheduled to join Akron out of spring training, but suffered a strained left lat towards the end of camp. Last season in 27 appearances (25 starts) the Ohio State University product went 7-9 with a 3.68 ERA for Akron. He led all of minor league baseball with a 1.48 ERA for Kinston in 2006.

Sweet-Swinging Sardinha...RF Bronson Sardinha has made an immediate impact in the week-and-a-half he's spent with the Aeros thus far, extending his hitting streak to eight games last night and averaging over an RBI a night. The native of Kailua, HI was hitless in his Aeros debut May 27th in the second game of doubleheader at Harrisburg, but since then has batted .286 (10-35) with a home run and 12 RBI in his last eight contests. Sardinha has enjoyed a pair of multi-hit games over his hitting streak, and the Fisher Cats pitching staff simply had no answer for him during the three games in Manchester. Sardinha went 4-14 in the three-game series, but beyond that he anchored the Akron offense with a whopping seven RBI in the series. The former first-round pick of the New York Yankees blasted a three-run homer Tuesday night to give the Aeros a short-lived lead, delivered a two-run single in the first inning Wednesday as Akron never trailed, and tacked on two more RBI yesterday evening, including the sacrifice fly that held up as the winning margin.
