Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton was no-hit for 7.1 IP, but scored two runs in the bottom 8th inning to edge Reading 2-1 on Friday night at Waterfront Park. Trenton has now won its first four games against Reading so far this season. Trenton's crowd of 7,666 was its 3rd largest crowd of the season.
Down 1-0 in the 8th inning, the Thunder had a 2B Reegie Corona on first base with one out against Reading reliever Joe Bisenius (0-1). SS Ramiro Pena then delivered an RBI double, the only hit of the game for the Thunder, to score Corona and tie the game at 1-1. Pena advanced to third base on a wild pitch, and scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly RBI to make it 2-1. In the top of the 9th inning, Thunder reliever Anthony Claggett gave up back-to-back singles with two outs to put runners on the corners. But, he retired Reading SS Jason Donald on a ground out back to the mound for the final out of the game. Claggett earned his 3rd save of the season. Thunder reliever Eric Wordekemper (2-1) earned the win tossing two innings of scoreless relief.
