Rogers fires four-hitter as Augusta shuts out Legends Taylor Rogers pitched a four-hit shutout, and the Augusta GreenJackets scored all their runs in the first two innings of a 5-0 win over the Lexington Legends Wednesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Chris Lofton doubled with one out, went to third after a fly ball to center field by Ryan Lollis, and scored on a double by Josh Mazzola.

Devin Harris led off the second inning with a single, stole second, went to third on a single by Rafael Rodriguez and scored on a single by Bobby Haney. After Willoughby was called out on strikes, Lofton doubled to right field, scoring Rodriguez and sending Haney to third. Lollis followed with another double, scoring Haney and Lofton to give Augusta its five-run margin.

Rogers (8-9) walked one and struck out four. He allowed one extra base hit, a double by Ben Orloff in the bottom of the sixth inning. Orloff and Mike Kvasnicka each had two hits for Lexington.

Lexington starter Tanner Bushue, who worked the first two innings, (6-4) was the losing pitcher. Murilo Gouvea relieved Bushue in the third and pitched five shutout innings while striking out six batters and walking one. The two teams meet again Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
