Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (52-63, 17-28) used a four-run eighth inning to comeback and defeat the Hagerstown Suns 6-4 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Wednesday night. The comeback win marks the fourth time this season that the Shorebirds won a game when trailing after seven innings. The win also halted a four-game losing skid.

Michael Ohlman paced an 11-hit attack with three hits and three RBIs. It was his first multi-hit game since July 24 and first three-hit game since June 30.

The Suns jumped to an early lead in the first. Michael Taylor struck out, but reached on a throwing error by Ohlman. After stealing second, he scored on a single by Adrian Sanchez.

The Shorebirds responded to tie the game in the fourth inning. Michael Rooney and Ty Kelly hit back-to-back singles. Then, Ohlman hit a grounder through the right side of the infield to score Rooney.

Hagerstown regained control of the game in the sixth inning. Taylor hit a leadoff single. After two strikeouts, Jake Cowan issued back-to-back walks to load the bases. Then, Jason Martinson hit a three-run triple against the right-center field wall to give the Suns a 4-1 lead.

The Shorebirds began their comeback in the bottom of the sixth. With two runners aboard, Jacob Julius stung a liner down the right field line to score Kelly from third to cut the deficit to 4-2.

In the eighth inning, the Shorebirds scored four runs on five hits against relievers Greg Holt and Sam Brown. Mooney and Rooney ignited the rally with singles. Two batters later, Jeremy Nowak doubled off the warning track in left field to score Mooney to trim the deficit to one. Then, Ohlman hit a two-run single up the middle to give the Shorebirds a 5-4 lead. Two batters later, Joe Oliveira hit a sacrifice fly RBI to right field to increase the cushion to 6-4.

David Walters entered in the ninth inning and locked away his 27th save of the season, tied with Mick Mattaliano (2008) for second most in single-season franchise history.

Luis Noel tossed 2.1 scoreless innings to earn his staff high seventh win of the season. Noel has not allowed an earned run in 10.1 consecutive innings out of the bullpen.

Shorebirds starter Jake Cowan matched his career high with ten strikeouts. He is the second Shorebirds pitcher to strikeout ten batters in a game this season. Jason Gurka struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings on April 9.

The Shorebirds and Suns play game two of the series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Matt Bywater is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
