HICKORY, NC - Just as they did in the first half of the season, the Hickory Crawdads and Kannapolis Intimidators are battling for pole position in the South Atlantic League Northern Division standings. Hickory came out on top in the first half ensuring a 2011 playoff spot, but will be in a battle with their Piedmont neighbors, as the two teams kick off a four-game series in Hickory on Wednesday.
The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Crawdads are 65-47 overall this season, the best overall record in the Northern Division. Hickory's 25-19 record in the 2nd half puts them one and a half games back of the Intimidators for 1st place.

~ With CF Jake Skole's grand slam on Sunday against Asheville, the Crawdads broke the team record for grand slams in a season with six. It was Skole's team-leading second Grand Slam this season.
~ C Kellin Deglan had two home runs and five RBI on Sunday in Asheville. He has 7 RBI in his last two contests.
~ Hickory's 22 hits on Sunday was one shy of the all-time team record, set on 5/12/04 at Asheville.
~ Through eight games in August, 1B Andrew Clark is batting a team-leading .455 with 15 hits and seven RBI in 33 at bats.
~ Clark is riding a nine-game hitting streak that includes 16 hits in 37 at bats (.432).
~ 2B Odubel Herrera is batting .332 away from L.P. Frans this season.
~ Since returning to the lineup on July 31, INF/OF Alejandro Selen has 12 hits in 33 at bats (.363). He has had multiple hits in his last three contests as well as five of the last eight games.
~ SS Jurickson Profar went 4-4 with two runs, a double, and two RBI against Hagerstown on August 4.
~ Hickory batters leads the SAL in batting average (.281) and on base percentage (.357).
~ Crawdads pitchers have the most strikeouts in the SAL (970).
