Rodriguez Back with Padres' Top Affiliate

SIOUX FALLS - Former Sioux Falls Pheasants catcher Eddy Rodriguez is once again only one step away from the major leagues.

Rodriguez was assigned on June 22 for the second time this season to the Class AAA Tucson Padres, the highest minor league affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

Rodriguez' last game with Tucson was June 26. He went 1-for-4 with two RBI against the Fresno Grizzlies. Overall he is 3-for-19 with a home run and three RBI in six games with Tucson. Rodriguez has also spent time this season with the high-A and Double-A affiliates of the Padres this season.

Rodriguez spent the entire 2010 season behind the plate for the Pheasants. He continued to live up to his reputation for an outstanding ability to handle a pitching staff and throw out runners. He also hit .259 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI to help the Pheasants to a North Division championship.
