Shreveport-Bossier 4, Grand Prairie 3
Shreveport-Bossier scored two runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Grand Prairie AirHogs 4-3. Grand Prairie had taken a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by DH Cesar Nicolas. The Captains responded in the top of the ninth when C Brian Peterson belted a two-run home run to put Shreveport-Bossier ahead 4-3. Captains closer Dan Griffin worked a 1-2-3 ninth to secure the win and earn his fourteenth save on the season. Captains 1B Joe Urtuzuastegui hit a solo homer and 2B Mike Provencher collected an RBI in the game. For Grand Prairie, Nicolas had two RBIs in a losing effort.
Sioux Falls 11, Sioux City 2
The Sioux Falls Pheasants capitalized on a five-run first inning as they cruised to an 11-2 victory against the Sioux City Explorers. Pheasants CF Reggie Abercrombie had three hits in five at-bats with a homer and four RBIs. Sioux Falls LF Francisco Leandro went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. Pheasants 3B Trevor Lawhorn doubled twice and homered, and C Henry Contreras homered as well. Pheasants starting pitcher Brandon Rapoza earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing one earned run and scattering seven hits.
Gary SouthShore 7, Lincoln 6
The RailCats' three-run eighth inning propelled them to a 7-6 win against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Gary SouthShore DH Mike Massaro, 2B Brad Boyer and RF Cristian Guerrero all batted in two runs in the game. Trailing 6-4 after seven innings, Massaro started the scoring in the decisive eighth inning by batting in 1B Mike Rohde. Guerrero hit a two-RBI single later in the inning to claim a 7-6 lead for the RailCats. Gary SouthShore reliever Travis Minix worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save. For Lincoln, CF Blake Gailen had two RBIs in a losing effort.
Amarillo 12, Fort Worth 7
Amarillo 3B Van Pope and LF Lee Cruz combined for seven RBIs to lead the Sox past the Fort Worth Cats 12-7. Pope hit a three-run homer in the top of the sixth and finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBIs. Cruz went 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored. Amarillo scored four runs in the eighth inning and three in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach. Sox RF Tim Alberts and 1B Chris Nash each collected an RBI in the win. Amarillo starting pitcher Travis Lawler earned the win, pitching seven innings and allowing four earned runs. Fort Worth 1B Trent Lockwood had four RBIs in a losing effort.
