KELOWNA, BC - The Red Deer Rebels dropped a 5-4 decision to the Rockets in Kelowna on Wednesday.

The Rockets took a 2-0 lead after the first period, Cal Foote and Dillon Dube with the goals.

The Rebels came back in the second period, Ivan Nikolishin and Haydn Fleury with the goals to tie it 2-2. The Rockets took a 3-2 lead with a goal by Dillon Dube, his second of the night.

In the third period, the Rockets opened up a 4-2 advantage when Gordie Ballhorn scored. Rebels cut it to 4-3, Grayson Pawlenchuk had the goal. Then Rockets had a goal by Tyson Baille and it was 5-3 for Kelowna. The Rebels had a power play goal by Colton Bobyk to get it to 5-4.

Rylan Toth made 22 saves in the Rebels net; Jackson Whistle made 30 saves in the Rockets net.

Red Deer was 1 for 4 on the power play and killed 2 of 4 shorthanded situations.

Michael Spacek had two assists and now has points in all nine games the Rebels have played in this season.

Earlier in the day, Wyatt Johnson was named the team captain; the alternates are Conner Bleackley, Haydn Fleury and Presten Kopeck.

The Rebels continue the road trip Friday in Victoria. The broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 7:50PM.
