Chiefs Snag Luke Harrison

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs acquired 6-foot-1, 204-pound forward Luke Harrison in the Western Hockey League's 20-year-old cut-down draft on Thursday afternoon. Harrison was released by the Kamloops Blazers.

"We expect Luke to give us a veteran presence with our forward group," said Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz. "Luke is a big body who can play any forward position. We are looking forward to Luke joining our team."

In 183 career WHL games, Harrison has 17 goals and 13 assists between the Blazers, the Victoria Royals and the Chilliwack Bruins. The West Kelowna, B.C. native was originally a third round (51st overall) pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

Harrison is expected to be available to play for Spokane in this weekend's games. He will wear number 15.

The Chiefs return to Spokane Arena this weekend for the first time since Sept. 26 to face the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, Oct. 16 and the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Friday night will be Cenex Zip Trip Magnet Schedule Giveaway Night (first 3,000 fans) while Saturday will be the Fifth Annual Leinenkugel's HOCKtoberfest & Leavenworth Weekend Giveaway, with pre-game festivities including Bavarian-themed food and drink starting outside Spokane Arena at 4 p.m.
