Game Story
The Lethbridge Hurricanes showed off their team speed and skill early, peppering Tyler Brown with 15 first period shots. Ryley Lindgren opened the scoring on a one-timer from the slot with just over six minutes left in the frame. Following Jared McAmmond tipping the puck off the post, Egor Babenko got room in the middle of the ice and put the Hurricanes up 2-0. The Pats had a late powerplay, but didn't score and went to the break, down 2-0.
The second frame belonged to the Pats. Despite being outshot early in the period, the red hot Pats powerplay got the Pats on even footing. Connor Hobbs slipped away from a check at the line with a great spin move before setting up Adam Brooks for the goal. Hobbs followed that up by launching a blistering shot from the point that found twine in a hurry to tie the game 2-2. Just two and a half minutes later, Brooks collected his own pass after it was blocked and snapped it up over Stuart Skinner to put the Blue and White ahead 3-2 after forty minutes.
The Queen City kids saw their lead evaporate just five minutes into the third as Tyler Wong tied the game off a tip play in front of the net. Wong struck again four minutes later as a redirected puck bounced into the net off the speedy forward's backside to put Lethbridge ahead 4-3. Brooks wouldn't let the Hurricanes get away without having some more input. The Pats' leading scorer put together a terrific shift in the offensive zone before grabbing the puck and sniping over the shoulder of Skinner for his hat-trick goal. Not to be out done, Wong got his third of the night by tipping a Giorgio Estephan pass by Brown to regain the lead. A Lindgren empty netter sealed the Pats fate in a 6-4 lost.
