Rock Cats Have Two Transactions Today

August 23, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League made two roster moves today, promoting a Pitcher to Triple-A Rochester and receiving a Catcher from Single-A Ft. Myers. Each player had previously performed this season for the team he was assigned to today.

RHP Cole DeVries, a 25-year-old product of the University of Minnesota, has been promoted to Rochester in the International League. The 6'2"/185-pound native of Eden Prarie, MN, departs New Britain after appearing in 39 games for the 2010 Rock Cats and posting a 1-5 record with a 5.80 ERA over 68.1 total innings of work. Cole's K/BB ratio in New Britain this season was a positive 63/25. Signed as a non-drafted Free Agent by Minnesota in 2006, the hard-throwing righty was assigned to the Triple-A Red Wings earlier this year, where he made 5 appearances out of the Rochester bullpen.

C Tobias Streich, a 22-year-old product of the University of West Virginia, will join the Rock Cats today from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. A 5th Round Draft pick of the Twins just one year ago, the 6'0"/218-pound receiver was batting .292 for the Miracle in Ft. Myers at the time of this assignment to New Britain. The Johnsonburg, PA native had a brief stint with the Rock Cats in July of this season when he appeared in 4 games, batting .154.

Both moves are effective immediately.
