DULUTH, Ga. - On Star Wars Night in front of over 8,000 fans, the Gladiators (18-42-3-3) held pace with the Greenville Road Warriors (35-28-1-3) through the majority of the game before ultimately falling 5-1 on Saturday night. Justin Buzzeo scored his first professional goal in his Gladiators debut.

The Road Warriors buzzed around the Gladiators' goal for quite some time on their first power play of the game before finally striking to give the opposition the early lead in the first period. Josh Nicholls drew Mike Lee to the near post and then slid the puck through the crease to Thomas Frazee who was waiting alone backdoor to punch it in at 6:08. Greenville tallied their second goal only a minute before the buzzer sounded, when the Gladiators failed to clear it from their defensive zone and Michael St. Croix smacked in a quick shot from the top of the crease at 19:06.

The back and forth stalemate of the second period gave all the makings of a scoreless second period, until the Gladiators pounded in a power play goal at 16:56. Tyler Murovich nailed the puck into goaltender Jeff Malcolm and the puck rebounded out towards the wide open back post as Malcolm fell to the ice. Justin Buzzeo crashed towards the open net and easily tallied his first professional goal at 16:56, after just signing an ECHL contract with the Gladiators earlier in the day.

Just 35 seconds into the third period, the Road Warriors brought the goal differential back up to two. Paul Rodrigues took advantage of a misplay by Lee, who dove out of the crease but came up empty handed. Kyle Jean made it four for Greenville on a successful breakaway, coming up as the victor of his one on one with Lee at 5:59. And St. Croix scored his second of the night on a one-timer from the left circle at 12:40.

Mike Lee picked up the loss, making 35 saves on 40 shots against, while Jeff Malcolm was 25 for 26 in the crease.

The Gladiators wrap up their final weekend homestand of the season tomorrow afternoon, at 2:05 p.m. when they face the Orlando Solar Bears for the final time this season.
