Stingrays Add Goaltender Keegan Asmundson

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, signed goaltender Keegan Asmundson, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.
Asmundson, 24, attended Canisius College the last three seasons and set school records in career goals-against average (2.08), career save percentage (.930), single-season goals-against average (2014-15) and single-season save percentage (.930, 2014-15) and was named to the All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team this season. In 26 games with the Golden Griffins this season, the Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, native earned a career-high 13 wins.
Prior to turning pro, Asmundson skated in three seasons of junior hockey in the USHL and NAHL with the Fargo Force, Des Moines Buccaneers, North Iowa Outlaws and Austin Bruins.
The Stingrays continue a season-high seven-game road trip Saturday, March 28 at Indianapolis and Sunday, March 29 at Evansville. The road trip wraps up with a trio of contests in The Sunshine State April 2-4 with tilts against the Orlando Solar Bears and Florida Everblades.
The Stingrays close the regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 11 against the Evansville IceMen at 7:05 at the North Charleston Coliseum on Fan Appreciation Night and The Post and Courier Hall of Fame Night. The first 1,000 fans receive a 2014-15 Stingrays team photo courtesy of Sheila Lauffer of Data Imaging and a new member of the Stingrays Hall of Fame will be inducted during the first intermission.
