Florida Everblades News Release
ELMIRA, NY -- Matt Ginn made 40 saves to help lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-1 victory over the Elmira Jackals at First Arena Saturday evening. Florida closes the seven-game road trip with a record of 6-0-0-1, and grabbed 13 of a possible 14 points. The Everblades (46-13-2-5, 99 pts) extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games (13-0-0-1)
For the second straight night Elmira grabbed the game's first goal. Kevin Hart delivered a shot from the point that was tipped and redirected into the net by Thomas Nesbitt at 5:14 of the opening frame.
Florida tied the game with eight minutes remaining in the first period. Cameron Burt rushed into the zone and dropped a pass in the high slot to Adam Brace. Brace cruised between the rings and snapped a shot that beat Elmira netminder Travis Fullerton high on the glove side. The first period ended with the score tied at 1-1.
Neither team managed to find the back of the net in the second period, but it only took the Everblades 2:06 into the third to take the lead. Rob Florentino belted a slapshot from the point that slipped through the five-hole of Fullerton for the goal to put Florida on top 2-1.
The Jackals were relentless down the stretch in the third period, but Florida goaltender Matt Ginn was solid, turning aside all 15 shots thrown his way in the final stanza.
Adam Brace sealed the contest with 27 seconds remaining when he added his second goal of the game, and 33rd of the season with an empty net tally.
Ginn earned the win stopping 40 of 41 shots faced, while Fullerton takes the loss allowing two goals on 29 shots. Florentino (pictured above) finished the game with a goal and an assist.
