
Road Warriors Knocked off 4-1 in Game Four

Greenville, SC: Matt Caria scored two goals in the first period to lead the Kalamazoo Wings past the Road Warriors by a score of 4-1 on Friday night to even the series at two games apiece.
Caria scored the first goal of the game 11:26 into the first period. The forward scored on a one-timer that was assisted by Nick Sirota and Chris Lawrence. This was the first first-period goal of the series. Caria scored on a breakaway just five minutes later to give Kalamazoo a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. Both teams had one power play during the first period but could not score on the man advantages. Greenville outshot Kalamazoo 12-9 in the frame.
The second period began with hard hits and physical play picking up within the first few minutes. Nine minutes in, Jordie Johnston found the back of the net for the Road Warriors with his first of the playoffs on a one-timer feed from Andrew Rowe. Marc-Olivier Vallerand also assisted on the goal to cut the lead to a 2-1 score. Kalamazoo led in shots on goal during the period 5-4 and took a 2-1 lead into the third period.
The Road Warriors has several scoring chances early in the third period but Wings netminder Jordan Binnington denied all opportunities. 13:41 into the third stanza, Ryan Del Monte won a face-off to Ludwig Blomstrand who drove a wrist shot over Jason Missiaen to give the Wings a 3-1 lead. Missiaen was pulled in effort to tie the game but Justin Taylor scored on the empty net to give the Road Warriors a 4-1 loss. This will force game six in Kalamazoo on Tuesday night.
The Road Warriors Drive to the Kelly Cup presented by the Greenville News continues tomorrow at 7 p.m. to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena for Game Five of the 2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
