Road Warriors Fall to Gwinnett 3-1

Greenville, SC: The Gwinnett Gladiators powered past the Road Warriors in the third period to beat Greenville 3-1 after being tied at the end of the first period.

The first period started off with Gwinnett's Kurtis Bartiff scoring the first goal of the game with an unassisted goal five minutes into the period. The Road Warriors responded three minutes later when Brandon Hynes scored his an unassisted goal, making it his second goal of the season. Hynes intercepted the play outside the crease and fired a backhand to tie the game at one.

The second period started much of the same way as the first. Both teams had equal shots on goal and rare scoring chances. Road Warriors' goaltender Connor Knapp faced 14 shots on goal and held the Gladiators off the board in the frame. Greenville had 11 shots in the second period on Gladiator goaltender Peter Delmas.

Gwinnett was given a man advantage three minutes into the third period. Despite diving to make the save, Knapp was beat by Devon Krogh's shot wrist shot on a rebound. The goal was assisted by Sacha Guimond and Dirk Southern making it a 2-1 game. This was Gwinnett's first powerplay goal of the season. The Road Warriors attempted to tie the game and removed Knapp from the net. Gwinnett's Maxime Legault took advantage of the empty net and scored the final goal to secure a 3-1 Gladiators win.

The Road Warriors travel to Gwinnett tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. game at The Arena at Gwinnett Center. Fans can click the listen live link or watch on America One.

The Road Warriors are holding Warrior Appreciation Night presented by Lockheed Martin, on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Bons Secours Wellness Arena.
