Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars and Peoria Chiefs will play a regular season Midwest League game on Wednesday, July 7 at Wrigley Field at 7:05 p.m. The game, which was originally scheduled to be played in Peoria, will feature the Chiefs as the home team. Tickets and more information will be available at www.cubs.com, and a limited number of tickets will be available for sale through the Cougars. For additional details, fans can contact the Cougars at (630) 232-8811. This year's game will be a rematch of sorts, as both teams took part in the first-ever minor league contest at Wrigley Field on July 29, 2008 in front of a Midwest League record 32,103 fans.

"Nearly two years later, the memories of the 2008 game are still talked about among people who were associated with that historic contest," Cougars General Manager Jeff Sedivy said. "July 7 will be a tremendous experience for our fans, front office staff, and our players and staff."

Fans that evening will be treated to entertainment by the Famous Chicken, between-innings contests and special events throughout the evening. Ozzie T. Cougar and Homer of the Peoria Chiefs will also be present.

"This is an exciting experience for everyone involved, and will be a game that these young men will cherish for the rest of their lives," Cougars manager Aaron Nieckula said.

The Cougars, a Class-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, are celebrating their 20th season as the only major league affiliated team in the Chicago area, located less than 30 miles from Chicago. A total of 110 players can call themselves former Cougars who have played at or are playing in the major leagues, including A's pitcher Dallas Braden, who pitched the 19th perfect game in major league history on Sunday.
