May 11, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Burlington Bees News Release

Cedar Rapids, IA (May 11, 2010) - The Burlington Bees were able to tie the game twice on Tuesday night, but could not hold the Cedar Rapids Kernels offense in check late in a 5-2 loss at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Kernels hung three on Bees reliever Mitch Hodge to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh, thanks to three hits and a walk. Casey Haerther, one night after belting a three-run home run, sliced a triple into the right-center field gap to give Cedar Rapids a 5-2 lead.

The Bees scored first in the second on a wild pitch by Kernels starter Patrick Corbin, and again in the seventh as Carlo Testa blasted a game-tying solo home run, his third of the year.

Corbin (W, 6-0) allowed two runs on three hits in eight innings with two strikeouts and no walks.

Testa had two hits to lead the offense, which was able to muster only three hits on the night.

The Bees and Kernels will close out the three-game series on Wednesday night at 6:35. Join Nick Devlin at 6:15 for the Casebine Community Credit Union Pregame Show on News Radio 1490 KBUR.
