Former Miami Star Tommy Nurre Joins Dragons

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

First baseman Tommy Nurre has been promoted to Dayton from Billings (Pioneer League).

Infielder Kevyn Feiner has been promoted from Dayton to Lynchburg (Carolina League).

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Nurre (pronounced NURR-ee), 23, was the Reds 38th round draft pick in 2009 out of Miami University in Oxford, where he enjoyed one of the most productive careers in school history. In 2009 at Miami, he batted .406 with 17 HR, 54 RBI, and a .757 slugging percentage. He finished his career at Miami with a batting average of .374, the second highest in school history (second only to former Reds infielder Chris Sexton, now a color commentator on Dragons television broadcasts).

Nurre was a 2008 2nd Team All-Mid American Conference selection, batting .386 with 9 HR and 48 RBI. Nurre opened his professional career at Billings, the Reds Rookie-level affiliate in the Pioneer League, and batted .224 with five home runs and 13 runs batted in. Between Miami and Billings in 2009, he belted 22 homers in 318 at-bats. Nurre has played with the Reds extended spring training team in Goodyear, Arizona in 2010.

Nurre played for Dragons manager Todd Benzinger in the summer of 2008 with the Cincinnati Steam, a college summer league team. Nurre is a product of St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati and was a member of the Ohio state championship team as a sophomore in 2003.

Feiner played left field, third base, second base, and designated hitter with the Dragons in 2010. He batted .146 with one RBI in 15 games.

The Dragons host the Fort Wayne TinCaps at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Fifth Third Field in the second game of a three-game series.
