March 3, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria, Ill. (March 3, 2004) â General Manager Bart Rogers of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that 10 Rivermen fans won $5,000 for the AmerenCILCO Dollar More program on Friday, February 13.
During the Rivermen game on February 13, ten (10) Rivermen fans took part in the AmerenCILCO Charity Shootout to benefit the Dollar More program. As a result, Rivermen fans and their shooting abilities were responsible for the $5,000 donation to the AmerenCILCO Dollar More program.
"We're proud our Rivermen fans were able to step up and make it happen for such a worthwhile charitable cause," Rogers said. "We pride ourselves as an organization on supporting the community in every way possible, and our fans are quick to jump in and lend a hand when called upon."
"On behalf of everyone at AmerenCILCO, I want to thank the Peoria Rivermen and their great fans for their part in getting our Dollar More program off to a fast start," said AmerenCILCO Chief Operating Officer Scott Cisel. "Dollar More is helping take the worry out of winter for those individuals and families in Central Illinois who are having difficulty paying their heating bills."
Dollar More helps the needy pay their energy bills and is funded by voluntary contributions from Ameren customers and Ameren Corporation. Since it was founded in 1982, well over $13 million has been raised to help more than 90,000 families.
All Dollar More contributions go to the needy through a network of human services agencies. The United Way and Ameren share administrative costs of the program, which means none of the contributions are used to pay administrative costs of the program.
The Rivermen host the archrival Toledo Storm on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. Game times are 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. On Friday, it is another Coca-Cola Finally Friday. Fans receive a 2-for-1 Upper Bowl admission when they present a Cherry Coke or Vanilla Coke can at the Carver Arena Box Office. On Saturday, Christian Rock Group "Jars of Clay" will perform in a post-game concert, courtesy of the Berean Bookstore. The first 5,000 fans will also receive a Rivermen Team Photo, courtesy of Mac's and Big Foot Convenience Stores.
