Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today that defenseman Scott Balan has been recalled by the Pride's AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.
This is the second recall of the season for the 21-year-old blueliner. He was called up on December 12, and appeared in 22 games, registering one assist and 35 penalty minutes. He was reassigned to the Pride on February 1. In 36 games with the Pride this season, Balan has one goal and 10 assists to go along with 87 penalty minutes. Balan was a fourth-round selection (106th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He is expected to be in the line-up tonight as the Admirals host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Balan joins defenseman Ryan Gaucher, forward Bobby Russell and goaltender Matt Underhill on the Norfolk roster.
The Pride are home for three games this weekend. Tomorrow, they host the Columbus Cottonmouths at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, the Greensboro Generals skate into town for a 7:30 match-up on "Mac and Cheese Night." Fans are encouraged to purchase a box of macaroni and cheese at either Piggly Wiggly or Harris Teeter to use as a noisemaker during the game. Following the game, fans will be able to donate the boxes to representatives from the Manna House. The weekend wraps up on Sunday with a 2:30 matinee against the Charlotte Checkers. Fans will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Kelly Cup, which will be on display on the concourse throughout the game. It's also another Sunday Kids' Day, with tickets for kids 12 and under available for just $2.50, and kids' meals will be available for an additional $2.50.
Tickets for all remaining Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
