San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO – San Diego Gulls fans helped raise another $746 for the wildfire victims Tuesday night at the second team-bowling event held at Kearny Mesa Bowl in Clairemont. The grand total raised this season is now close to $14,000.

Fans had an opportunity to bowl and mingle with their favorite Gulls players, while participating in a silent auction to benefit those affected by the San Diego wildfires, which raged throughout the county in October.

Several items were up for auction, including a team autographed stick and jersey, a game-worn Dan Cousineau jersey from last season's Taylor Cup Finals, Gulls tickets, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park tickets and more.

The $746 raised will be added to money accumulated through the "Ice Down the Fire" T-shirt fundraiser, "Saves for San Diego" program, "Firestorm on Ice" charity hockey game and the first bowling night event.

Some 800 "Ice Down the Fire" T-shirts have been sold, which equates to about $7,000 in donations to the fire victims. The "Saves for San Diego" program, which took place in November, brought in more than $2,000. The "Firestorm On Ice" charity game on Nov. 22 brought in about $3,000 more, while the first team-bowling event in December brought in another $1,000.

That brings the grand total close to $14,000.
