
RiverKings Bolster Blue Line with Kubaliak

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League (CHL) have added defenseman Martin Kubaliak (kuh-BAH-lee-ak) to the roster.
Kubaliak, a fifth-year professional, comes to Mississippi from the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), where he scored one goal for five points and 74 penalty minutes in 26 games this season.
It's the second stint with the RiverKings for Kubaliak, who played three games in Mississippi during the 2007-08 season. He also played for Tulsa (23 games) and Wichita (17 games) in the CHL and he also played that season with Bakersfield of the ECHL. For that entire season, Kubaliak scored three goals for nine points and 117 PIMS.
Kubaliak's career also includeds all or parts of three seasons with the Huntsville Havoc of the SPHL, starting in his first North American professional season of 2006-07 and again during the 2008-09 season and again last year.
Career highs for the native of Zvolen, Slovakia came in the 2008-09 season with Huntsville, when he scored eight goals, 20 assists, and 28 points. He accumulated 143 penalty minutes for Huntsville in the 2006-07 campaign.
Martin's career professional totals have him scoring 21 goals for 85 points and 540 penalty minutes in 242 career contests.
Kubaliak played one year in Slovakia and had two seasons with Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League before turning pro. He was a first round choice (number three overall) of Medicine Hat in the 2002 CHL (Canadian Hockey League) Import Draft.
Next action for the RiverKings is this weekend in a two-game series against the Bucks in Laredo this Friday and Saturday nights, January 7th and 8th. Broadcast coverage is available on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM Friday night and on Saturday night on 87.7 FM, "The Pig," starting at 7:15 PM both nights.
An Away Game Watch Party is planned for the Southaven Buffalo Wild Wings, north of Goodman Road on Airways Boulevard for Friday night's game, starting at 7:30 PM.
There will be no Coach's Show from O'Charley's Restaurant in Southaven this coming Monday night, due to the CHL All-Star break. The next Coach's Show program on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM will be on Monday, January 17th.
Next home action for the RiverKings will be on Tuesday, January 18th, against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the DeSoto Civic Center. Game time is 7:05 PM and Hockey For Humanity is the night's featured non-profit MVP.
