MOLINE, Ill. (January 7, 2011) - Trevor Cann made 38 saves and Jack Combs scored a pair of goals as the Tulsa Oilers defeated the host Quad City Mallards 4-2 Friday night.
After Quad City's Zac Pearson scored the only goal of the first period from close range at 17:44, the Oilers bounced back to find the net twice in the second period and take the lead for good. Combs buried Chad Costello's centering pass to even the score at one at 9:14 of the second. At 13:52 Anthony Battaglia broke the deadlock from the slot.
At 13:24 of the third period the Oiler lead widened to 3-1 when Evan Kosopoulos's shot was deflected home. Tyler Kindle's drive from the right point pulled the Mallards back within one with just under two and a half minutes remaining, but Combs would score an empty net goal to finish off the Flock with 1:12 left.
