
Bucks Stumble in Loss to RiverKings

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Mississippi Riverkings 3-2 Friday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks fall to 11-15-5 (27 points) on the season.
Larry Sterling stopped 22 of 24 shots as the Riverkings picked up goals from three different players to win their second straight game.
The Bucks are 0-3-1 in their last four games against the Riverkings dating back to the 2008-09 season.
The Riverkings (16-16-1) would jump out in front of the Bucks just 20 seconds into the game when Brennan Sarazin scored on a backhander in front of the net on Mississippi's first shot of the game. The goal was Sarazin's first of the season, as he was activated from the IR earlier in the afternoon.
Laredo had scored first in their previous four games (2-1-1 record).
The Bucks outshot the Riverkings 10-8 in the first period.
Mississippi would go up 2-0 just 3:57 into the second when Chris Richards scored from the bottom of the left circle on a two-man advantage to pick up his 800th CHL point.
Laredo would cut the Mississippi lead to 2-1 at the 6:58 mark of the period when Daniel Koger scored from the slot on a power-play. The strike was Koger's team-leaading 18th of the season with Neil Trimm and Jeff Bes picking up assists. Trimm set a new career-high with his 44th point of the season.
The Riverkings would be the beneficiary of a close call with just 34 seconds left in the second period when they were awarded a penalty shot. Jeff Christian would score on a backhander to pick up his ninth goal of the season.
Mississippi outshot Laredo 13-7 in the second period.
The Bucks cut the Riverkings lead to 3-1 at the 9:39 mark of the third when Justin Styffe jammed in a feed from Trimm right in front of the net to score his fifth of the season.
Laredo outshot Mississippi 7-3 in the third period with each team putting up 24 shots in the game.
Torrie Jung stopped 21 of 24 shots he faced to suffer the loss.
BOY SCOUT/GIRL SCOUT NIGHT SATURDAY
Saturday night (Jan. 8th) the Bucks host the Riverkings again on Boy Scout and Girl Scout night at the LEA. There will be a post-game skate with the entire Bucks team Saturday.
All Boy Scout tickets are $14, which includes a Bucks Zamboni patch and a concession voucher, with Boy Scouts family tickets just $10.
All Girl Scout tickets are $14, which includes a Bucks pink ice skate patch and a hot dog and soda, with Girl Scouts family tickets are $12 and include a hot dog and soda. Girl Scout cookie season kicks off on January 16th.

JR. BUCKS FUNDRAISER GAME JAN. 14th
Friday January 14th is the Jr. Bucks fundraising game when the Bucks host Rio Grande Valley at Laredo Energy Arena. Saturday February 12th the Bucks will host their first-ever Pucks for Autism night when Laredo hosts Bossier-Shreveport at Laredo Energy Arena.
