Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - After a quick, three-game dash to Asheville, the Charleston RiverDogs head back to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park to host to the Augusta GreenJackets in a four-game series that runs from Thursday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 19. This is the final four-game series that Charleston will host this season, with only a three-game block during the season's final week remaining in the home schedule. The "good guys" have dominated Augusta so far this year and will be looking to continue that trend during this series.
The "Be Your Own Fan" mantra will be in full force during these games, especially on Friday. The Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held prior to the start of the game, as Gettys Glaze, Tom Hatley and John Rhodes are set to become the Hall's newest members as the event last week was washed out. Some of the proceeds from Friday night's ticket sales will be donated to support Summerville youth baseball on Summerville Night. The SC Peanut Association will be on hand, giving out peanuts to fans as part of Peanut Night. All fans who ride a bicycle to the game will receive $1 off on tickets, as the RiverDogs salute those taking the environmentally friendly route to get to the park. During the game, fans can bid in a silent auction for some of the jerseys that the players will be wearing during the game. The winning bidders will receive the jerseys right off the backs of the players at the end of the night. The bidding is already underway at www.riverdogs.com/auctions and all proceeds go to the Air Force Aid Society.
On Sunday, fans can witness the return of the Inflatamaniacs, the wild inflatable crew that thrilled fans during this year's South Atlantic League All-Star Game at The Joe. They will be back with the same brand of wild and exciting entertainment that is sure to captivate all those in attendance.
Thursday, August 16 - 7:05 pm: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, Charleston County Recycling Night
The music of DJ Natty Heavy and $1 food and beverage specials in the Ashley View Pub will have The Joe jumping on Budweiser Thirsty Thursday. Another Charleston County Recycling Night gives fans a chance to join the RiverDogs in attempting to keep the Lowcountry looking beautiful through conservation and recycling. After the game, WCBD Channel 2 Storm Trackers will be given away by Rob Fowler and the Storm Team 2.
Friday, August 17 - 7:05 pm: General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection Red Shirt Friday, Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks, Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Inductions, Red Jersey Auction, Fat Tire Friday, Bike Night, Peanut Night
The Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Inductions, the Red Jersey Auction, Bike Night and Peanut Night are just a few of Friday night's fun events. The Riley Park Box Office will give $1 off on tickets to all fans wearing red on General Dynamics Land Systems-Force Protection Red Shirt Friday. That buck can then be donated to a military family in need. There will be a Fat Tire cart on the concourse serving Fat Tire beer and a custom-made Fat Tire bicycle will be raffled off during the game as part of Fat Tire Friday. This will be fans' second-to-last chance to see Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks light up the sky above the park.
Saturday, August 18 - 7:05 pm: Lowcountry Local First Go Local Saturday, Charlie Slipper Giveaway, MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite, Summerville Night
The first 1,000 fans who come to the game on Saturday will receive a free pair of Charlie slippers on Charlie Slipper Giveaway Night. Tri-county residents can receive $1 off on tickets, courtesy of Lowcountry Local First on Go Local Saturday. Along with Summerville Night, it will be MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite, with $3 aluminum pints available in the Ashley View Pub.
Sunday, August 19 - 5:05 pm: Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and Crews Subaru Family Sunday, Inflatamaniacs Performance
The season's final CCPRC and Crews Subaru Family Sunday is full of all the family friendly promotions that have become so popular on Sundays. There is free parking and, thanks to Pepsi, kids eat free. It is the last chance to have a catch on the field before the game, to witness reading with a RiverDog and to meet the team after the game for postgame autographs. The Inflatamaniacs also will undoubtedly add a to the day's festive and family friendly environment.
