Suns Use 10th Walk-Off Win to Dump Hickory

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (70-49/28-22) won their 70th game of the season using their tenth walk-off win to beat the Hickory Crawdads (63-57/27-24), 4-3, at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night.

Right fielder J.R. Higley delivered his second walk-off hit within a month, an RBI double to score Brett Newsome from first base in the bottom of the ninth inning. Newsome finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and the game winning run.

Suns starter Brian Rauh did not factor in the decision, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and four strike outs. Lefty Christian Meza was charged with a blown save, allowing both runs in the ninth inning. Richie Mirowski (4-0) earned the win by pitching the final out of the ninth.

Crawdads' starting pitcher Will Lamb also took a no-decision, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits, two walks and four strike outs. Reliever Santo Perez (3-9) was tabbed with the loss, his third against the Suns this season.

Hickory catcher Kellin Deglan hit his second solo homer in as many games in the series, while Alejandro Selen provided the game tying pinch-hit single in the ninth inning.

The Suns and Crawdads will complete the series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Taylor Hill (10-6, 4.75) is scheduled to make the start for Hagerstown. LHP Andrew Faulkner (4-4, 3.86) will take the ball for Hickory.
