KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 14, 2012) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators and Delmarva Shorebirds split two games at CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Tuesday night. The Intimidators exploded for six runs in eighth inning to beat the Shorebirds, 6-2, in the completion of a game suspended from June 24. Delmarva retaliated with a 6-1 win in a 7- inning game.

Game 1 The Intimidators and Shorebirds picked up their June 24 game tied 0-0 in the middle of the fourth inning before Delmarva plated a run in the seventh and eighth for a 2-0 lead.

Joey DeMichele led off the eighth with a double, and Courtney Hawkins added a bunt-single with two strikes to load the bases with no outs for Mark Haddow. Haddow, an All-Star for Kannapolis, doubled down the left field line to bring home two runs, and Hawkins scored on a throwing error from Delmarva's left fielder to give Kannapolis a 3-2 lead. Leighton Pangilinan later added a two run home run (6) to cap the scoring outburst, 6-2.

Daniel Webb (1-7), who entered the game in the eighth inning, tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first win of the season.

Shorebirds DH Mychal Givens broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff home run in the seventh inning off Dustin Umberger, who worked three innings, allowing a run on five hits.

Kannapolis and Delmarva played to a scoreless tie through the first three and a half innings on June 24. Erik Johnson tossed four scoreless innings for the Intimidators to open the game. Game 2 Delmarva jumped in front early when Michael Ohlman blasted a two-run home run to left field in the first inning of the second game. Ohlman paced the Shorebirds, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.

Leighton Pangilinan drove in the only run for Kannapolis on a second inning sac-fly to score Bill Rice, making it 2-1 Delmarva.
