Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE - IN) --- Catcher Charlie Lisk powered the River City offense with two home runs as the Rascals topped the Evansville Otters 8-4 on Tuesday.

It was a special Day Care Day at the ballpark as many local children came out to watch the Evansville Otters pursuit of a sweep.

River City jumped out to a four run lead early when Lisk hit a solo home run in the second and then a three-run homer in the following inning against Evansville starting pitcher Matt Zielinski.

The Rascals tacked on another run in the fifth as the Otters trailed by a handful of runs.

Evansville then broke through in the sixth inning against River City starter Kelirquote I Zablan. The Otters received a leadoff single from outfielder Matt Sheely then a double from shortstop Greg Fontenot to put runners at second and third. Both men would then score on a pair of RBI groundouts from third baseman Nick Schwaner and designated hitter DeAngelo Mack.

Ahead 5-2, River City would plate another run in the top of the seventh only to see the Otters surge back in the bottom half of the inning. Trailing by four runs, Evansville then cut the deficit in half with a two-run double by outfielder Alex Foltz to left-center.

With their lead dwindling to two runs, River City would then add a pair of runs in the eighth and hold on late for the win.

River City is 17-13 this season as Evansville now stands at 11-19 overall.

Zielinski (2-3) takes the loss, allowing five runs in 5.0 innings. Zablan (3-2) earns his second win against the Otters, pitching 6.0 innings while giving up two runs. There was no save in the game.

Fontenot finished 2-for-2 with a run scored, sacrifice bunt and a walk.

Evansville will now begin a three-game series at the Southern Illinois Miners on Wednesday night. The Otters will have their ace right-hander Dan Blewett (2-1, 0.90 Earned Run Average) on the hill against the Miners' lefty Brian Fowler (3-1, 3.12 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Rent One Park.
