West Sacramento - The Sacramento River Cats scored 9 runs on 12 hits to out-slug the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 9-8, on Friday night at Raley Field. The game was tied entering the bottom of the eighth inning when Bobby Smith's RBI single plated Andrew Beattie to give the Cats a lead they would never relinquish. The middle of the Sacramento lineup was extremely productive on the night, as the 3-4-5 hitters (Matt Watson, Smith and Shawn Garrett respectively) went a combined 8-for-13 with 4 runs and 3 RBIs. The River Cats used 6 different pitchers on the night including Britt Reames, who earned his 4th victory of the season. Sacramento and Colorado Springs square off again on Saturday night, as RHP Juan Cruz (1-0, 2.05) takes the mound against the Sky Sox' RHP Jason Young (8-5, 5.56).
