Sidewinders rout Las Vegas 10-1

Tucson posted three different three run innings Saturday night and routed Las Vegas 10-1 at Cashman Field. The Sidewinders evened the series at a game apiece.

Josh Kroeger broke up a scoreless game with a three-run homer in the second inning. Kroeger's blast was his tenth of the year and scored Koy Hill and Carlos Quentin for the 3-0 Tucson lead.

Tucson put up another three run inning during the fifth frame. Former Las Vegas 51 Koy Hill had the big hit, a two-run triple. Sergio Santos later doubled in Hill for the 6-0 advantage.

Tucson added its seventh run in the seventh inning when Santos doubled and came home on a single from Matt Kata.

Kata capped the Sidewinders scoring with a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to push the score to 10-0.

Jon Cannon earned his third win of the year throwing six scoreless innings. Cannon allowed just two hits while striking out three.

The 51's broke up the shutout with two outs in the ninth against Javier Lopez when Joe Thurston's sacrifice fly plated Cody Ross who had doubled.

The Sidewinders out hit the 51's 13-6 with Santos leading the attack with four hits, one run scored and one RBI.

Tucson improved to 46-47. The Sidewinders and 51's will meet again Saturday night in a 7:05 p.m. game. Bill Murphy (4-4 4.52) will draw the starting assignment for Tucson against Heath Totten (7-6 6.17). The game will air live at 7:05 p.m. on Cool 1450 AM.
