Round Rock Express News Release

Oklahoma City - Round Rock Express 3B Mike Coolbaugh has been a thorn in the Oklahoma RedHawks side all season and on Friday night at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, he was again, this time in an eleven inning win, 8-7.

Coolbaugh, with the bases loaded in the top of the 11th inning, drove in two runs on a single that broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Express the lead into the bottom of the 11th.

The Express fell behind in the third when starter Fernando Nieve surrendered an RBI double to RedHawks 1B Adrian Gonzales and Oklahoma led 1-0.

Round Rock's LF Luke Scott, in the top of the 4th, drilled a two run homer off Oklahoma starter Derrick Lee to make it 2-1 Express. Scott came right back in the 5th with a two run single to up the score to 4-1 Round Rock.

The RedHawks tied it against relievers T.J.Mathews and Denny McDaniel in the 6th, scoring three runs to tie it at 4-4.

Oklahoma got a two run seventh for a 6-4 lead. And it stayed that way until the 11th, as reliever Travis Driskill shut down the potent RedHawks offense, going three shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out three while notching his sixth win of the season.

The Express tied the game at 6 in the top of the 9th on a two run pinch hit homer from Carlos Rivera and that set the stage for Coolbaugh's 11th inning heroics.

Alex Eckelman led off the 11th with a single, he moved to second on a single by CF Charles Gipson who had four hits on the night. Luke Scott struck out and Danny Klassen was walked intentionally to load the bases.

The Oklahoma strategy backfired as Coolbaugh lined a two run single to left, giving the Express an 8-6 lead.

Reliever Will Cunnane came on and gave up three walks, and an RBI to RF Chris Richard on a sacrifice fly, but he managed to dig out of further trouble notching in second save, and the Express survived with an 8-7 win

Game three takes place at 7:05 in Oklahoma City on Saturday. Righthander Roberto Giron goes to the hill for the Express.
