Colorado Springs takes down Sacramento
July 15, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Sacramento River Cats News Release
West Sacramento - The Sacramento River Cats' late inning comeback fell short as they lost to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 12-8, on Thursday night at Raley Field. After trailing 9-0 in the 7th inning, the River Cats scored 2 runs in 7th, and 3 in the 8th to pull within 4 runs. The Sky Sox answered with a 3-run ninth to regain a comfortable 12-5 lead. The River cats, however, weren't done as they mounted a ninth inning rally to score 3 and with the tying run in the on-deck circle. Back-to-back strikeouts by Shawn Garrett and Jack Cust ended the late charge as the River Cats fell in their first game after the all-star break. One day after starring for the PCL in the Triple-A All-Star Game at Raley Field, Cats outfielder Matt Watson hit his 11th home run of the season and drove in 3 runs to pace the Sacramento offense. The River Cats and Sky Sox square off again on Friday, as RHP Steve Sparks (7-5, 5.56) takes the mound for the Cats against the Sox' RHP Aaron Cook (0-0, 0.00).
