White and Corcoran help Zephyrs earn split

The Zephyrs completed a marathon day with a 1-0 shutout of the Memphis Redbirds last night. Zephyr starter Matt White worked seven shutout innings and Roy Corcoran finished off the Birds working the final two innings and earned a save. The lone RBI was by Dee Brown on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to drive in Tyrell Godwin. Friday was a day-night doubleheader with Memphis winning the afternoon affair 4-1. Memphis starter Anthony Reyes pitched six shutout innings in the first game and earned the win as the Redbirds drilled three homers in the contest.

Game Notes: The second game started an hour and 12 minutes late due to rain. The players for both clubs spent over 12 hours at the park. The day-night doubleheader was the first in the PCL since 2003 when the Z?s played the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Zephyr infielder Rick Short lert Thursdays game with a strained left shoulder and missed both games Friday. He is listed as day to day and is expected to miss the remainder of the series with the Redbirds. Outfielder Matt Cepicky is expected to rejoin the team today. He was 5 for 18 with three doubles and 3 RBI in 7 games with the Nationals.
