Rippers Ride Richmond to Victory

LONDON, ONTARIO - Jamie Richmond threw a complete game and Ben Magsig squeezed home the winning run in the 8th as London (18-29) snapped a five game losing streak with a 4-3 win over Traverse City (32-15).

Richmond (5-2) gave up three runs on 9 hits and struck out nine in the victory.

The game was tied 3-3 in the 8th inning when the Rippers loaded the bases with one out after a walk, single and intentional walk.

On the second pitch of the at-bat, Magsig squeezed up the first base line to bring home Stephen Cardullo from third and giving London the 4-3 lead.

" The call was to squeeze on the second pitch of the at-bat and I was able to get it down and we got the win, so that was great. " Magsig said.

Traverse City put up a run in the first two innings on a sacrifice fly by Chase Burch in the 1st and a two-out single by Kyle Eveland in the 2nd .

London scored one in the 2nd on a fielder's choice by Jim Vahalik. Joash Brodin tied the game with an RBI single, his 40th RBI of the season, in the 3rd .

The Rippers took their first lead of the game in the 5th, when Aaron Glaum scored while Stephen Cardullo was caught in a run down, earning London a 3-2 advantage.

But, the lead was short-lived when Jeff Flagg smacked his 13th homer of the season to centerfield in the 6th, tying the game at 3-3.

These two teams play their last game before the all-star break tomorrow at Labatt Park at 1pm. London's Brandon Sinnery (1-1 5.48) starts against Reid Kelly (6-1 2.77)
