July 7, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Gateway Grizzlies News Release
LOVES PARK, IL - Gateway right-hander Tim Brown recorded his league-leading third complete game en route to pitching the Grizzlies to a 5-2 win Saturday night against Rockford at RiverHawks Stadium. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Gateway.
Brown, a St. Louis native, needed only 107 pitches to get his first complete game win. He surrendered eight hits and allowed only one earned run while striking out two and walking two.
Gateway (24-23) trailed Rockford (19-27) 2-0 until the seventh inning, when they scored four runs on five hits and a Rockford error. Alex Guthrie picked up an RBI single and Jonathan Johnson drove in two with a double.
Landon Hernandez provided insurance in the eighth inning with his eighth home run of the season. It was a solo blast to left field for Hernandez.
Hernandez, Guthrie and Richie Jimenez Jr. all had multi-hit games for Gateway.
The Grizzlies play their final game before the all-star break Sunday night at RiverHawks Stadium. Right-hander Paul Tremlin (3-0) gets the start for Gateway. First pitch is set for 6:05 CT.
