Summary
The Richmond Flying Squirrels jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first inning and a half on its way to a 5-3 win over the Akron RubberDucks on Friday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
With a 1-0 lead entering the second inning, the Flying Squirrels scored three runs on three hits in the frame, with the big hit coming on Myles Schroder's two-run triple.
Mound Presence
Akron starter Shawn Morimando allowed four runs on 10 hits over six innings of work, walking one and striking out six. Zach Nuding allowed a run on three hits and a walk while fanning two during his two innings, and Louis Head pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
Duck Tales
Akron bats managed 10 hits, led by Yandy Diaz who went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk. Ronny Rodriguez added a pair of his, and Carlos Moncrief, Jeremy Lucas, and Eric Stamets had the RBI for the RubberDucks...Rehabbing Cleveland Indian Chris Johnson went 0-for-3 as the designated hitter with three groundouts. He is expected to continue his rehab appearance in Akron on Saturday.

The RubberDucks fell to 1-7 vs. Richmond in 2015 and wrap up the season series on Sunday...Earlier today, third baseman Yandy Diaz was named as the third baseman on the end-of-season Eastern League All-Star Team...The loss moves Akron two games behind second-place Altoona in the EL's Western Division with 10 games to play in the chase for the final playoff spot...Morimando's 10 hits allowed match his season high and it marks his second consecutive start allowing 10 hits...Time of game was: 3:00 ...Attendance: 7,408.

The RubberDucks continue the four-game series vs. Richmond Flying Squirrels on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Cleveland Indians RHP Gavin Floyd is scheduled to start the game as part of a rehab assignment with RHP Mike Clevinger (8-8, 2.92) expected to follow.
