TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats will meet in game two of a three-game series...The Fisher Cats launched three home runs and scored seven runs in the first three innings en route to a 11-6, series-opening win over the Flying Squirrels on Tuesday night at The Diamond.
TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander Mike MacDonald gets the start in game two of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Earned the win in his last start at New Hampshire 8/5...Tossed a complete-game shutout allowing five hits in nine innings...Struck out five batters and walked none...All five hits allowed were singles...Retired 13 consecutive batters (4th-8th)...Recorded 11 ground outs and nine fly outs...Threw 105 pitches, 69 strikes...Did not throw more than 15 pitches in an inning...Outing was the longest of the season for a Flying Squirrels pitcher...Third caree nine-inning complete game and first since 6/27/06 against Trenton while with New Hampshire...Has won consecutive starts for the first time this season...Ten runs of support were the most this season...Has not issued a walk in his last 18 2/3 innings on the mound...Ranks fourth among Eastern League starters in fewest walks per nine innings at 1.91 (20 bb/94.1 ip)...Left-handed batters are hitting .364 (60-for-165) against him...Went 16-13 with a 3.97 ERA in 42 games, 34 starts, over parts of three seasons with New Hampshire (2006-2008).

STANDING "O": The Flying Squirrels have scored 45 runs over the past five games including a season-high 16 runs on Sunday...It's the longest streak of games where the club has scored six or more runs...Richmond has also reached double-digits in hits in five straight games, the longest stretch of consecutive games with double-digit hits this season...The club has combined for 65 hits over the last five games...Of the club's 65 hits, 28 have gone for extra bases including a season-high 10 extra-base hits on Sunday...The club currently ranks second in the Eastern League with a .316 team batting average through the first eight games this month.
COLLECTORS SERIES: Richmond has won three consecutive series for the first time this season...The club recently took three of four from Altoona followed by winning two of three at New Hampshire and Portland...Since the All-Star break, the Flying Squirrels are 14-11 and have gone 4-1-2 in the seven series that they have played.
THE WEATHER MAN: Third baseman Conor Gillaspie has hits in each of his last six contests...The 23-year-old is 9-for-25 (.360) with four doubles, a home run, five RBI, and six runs scored...Since 7/1, he is batting .379 (44-for-116) with eight doubles, three triples, two home runs, 20 RBI, and 16 runs scored...Gillaspie has raised his batting average from .254 to .291 since 7/1.
THOMAS THE TRAIN: Outfielder Thomas Neal has hits in each of his last five games, his ninth hit streak of five games or more...Over his last five games, the 22-year-old is 10-for-24 (.417) at the plate with four doubles, two RBI, and six runs scored...He is tied for second in the Eastern League in hits (128) and is sixth in doubles (31)...Since 6/1, Neal is batting .323 (76-for-235) in 62 games with 20 doubles, seven home runs, 34 RBI, and 39 runs scored...He has raised his batting average from .255 to .294 over that span.
HERE'S THE SCHOOP: Utility man Sharlon Schoop has hits in each of his last five games, matching a season-long hit streak...The 23-year-old is 11-for-22 (.500) at the plate over his last five games with three doubles, a home run, seven RBI, and five runs scored...His six RBI on Sunday were a new career-high as well as a team-high...Schoop has raised his batting average from .227 to .295 over his last five games.
UNBUCKLING THE BELT: In 110 games combined between Advanced-A San Jose and Double-A Richmond, first baseman Brandon Belt leads all of minor league baseball in on-base percentage (.465), is second in batting average (.370), is third in slugging percentage (.630), and is fifth in hits (146)...The 22-year-old is batting .441 (15-for-34) with runners in scoring position in 33 games with the Flying Squirrels and is hitting .397 (48-for-121) overall with runners in scoring position this season.
DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 141 double plays in 115 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The Flying Squirrels have not gone more than three games without a double play this season...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned.
CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Right-hander Daryl Maday allowed seven runs on six hits including three home runs in four innings last night...The 24-year-old has served up 13 gopher balls in his last 33 2/3 innings on the mound since being promoted to Triple-A Fresno 7/3...He had allowed just three home runs in his first 95 2/3 innings...It was the sixth time this season the Flying Squirrels have given up three home runs in a game, matching a season-high.
