Harrisburg Senators News Release
Cole Kimball worked out of a self-induced, bases-loaded one-out jam in the ninth inning without allowing a run, and earned his fifth save as the Harrisburg Senators escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Binghamton Mets on Wednesday afternoon at Metro Bank Park. Â The win improved the Senators to 62-55, and put them just two games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern League's Western Division. Â The B-Mets fell to 56-61 with the loss.
The Senators used a four-run seventh inning to take their first and only lead of the game, turning a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 advantage. Â They sent nine men to the plate and collected seven hits, with the big blows coming from Ofilio Castro and Edgardo Baez. Â Castro's RBI double tied the ballgame, and Baez' two-run double put the Senators in front. Â Later in the inning, Brad Coon singled home Baez to complete the scoring.
Tom Milone (9-5) allowed two runs in his seven innings, striking out seven and earning the win. Â He also drove in the other Senators run, with a sacrifice fly in the third inning that brought home Devin Ivany. Â Reliever Eddie Kunz (6-7), who faced two batters, gave up two runs, and retired no one, took the loss. Â The Sens finished with ten hits on the game, including two each from Coon, Jesus Valdez, and Stephen Lombardozzi. Â It was Lombardozzi's first start for the Sens, after moving up from high-A Potomac earlier this week. Â Castro, Baez, Chris Marrero, and Marvin Lowrance each had one hit.
The rubber match of the three-game series is Thursday evening at 7 PM, with RHP Ryan Tatusko (0-0, 1.93) scheduled to start for the Senators. Â He will be opposed by RHP Jenrry Mejia (0-0, 1.17) of the B-Mets. Â Fans can hear all the action, beginning with the pregame show at 6:45, by tuning in to 1460 AM The Ticket or logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com.
