TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Portland Sea Dogs will meet in the opener of a three-game series...The Flying Squirrels earned a series-clinching win with a 10-0 victory over the Fisher Cats in the finale of a three-game series on Thursday night at MerchantsAuto.com Stadium.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander David Mixon gets the start in game one of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision in his last outing against Altoona 7/31...Allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits in seven innings...Struck out four batters and walked one...Gave up a leadoff home run to Chase D'Arnaud in the top of the first inning...Retired seven of the final eight batters that he faced...Allowed the leadoff man to reach in four of his seven innings on the mound...Recorded 11 ground outs and five fly outs...Threw 105 pitches, 63 strikes...Matched a career-long by tossing seven innings...Has thrown seven innings in nine of his 22 starts...Has gone at least six innings in 15 of his 22 starts...Has allowed two runs or less in 16 of his 22 outings...Is fourth in the Eastern League innings pitched (134.0), and is ninth in strikeouts (96)....Trying to become just the third pitcher in the Eastern League to 11 wins (Jared Hughes, Kyle Drabek).

COLLECTORS SERIES: Richmond has won back-to-back series for the first time since 5/7-5/12 when the club won consecutive three-game sets at Harrisburg and Bowie...The club recently took three of four from Altoona followed by winning two of three at New Hampshire...The club has not won three straight series yet this season...Since the All-Star break, the Flying Squirrels are 12-9 and have gone 3-1-2 in the six series that they have played.

MOUND MATTERS: The Flying Squirrels have allowed three earned runs or less and have a combined staff ERA of 1.67 (31 er/167 ip) in each of their last 18 victories...The Flying Squirrels are 9-47 when allowing four runs or more and 0-29 when giving up six runs or more.

GO FISH: The Flying Squirrels 10-0 shutout of the Fisher Cats was their eighth shutout of the season...It was the club's first shutout since blanking the Reading Phillies 6-0 5/23 at FirstEnergy Stadium...Richmond's pitching staff had tossed seven shutouts in the club's first 43 games...The Flying Squirrels went 67 games between shutouts.

STANDING "O": Richmond's offense scored in double digits for the third time this season...The Flying Squirrels matched their largest margin of victory with the 10-run win over the Fisher Cats...The club beat Bowie 14-4 on 7/23...It was the largest shutout win of the season for the Flying Squirrels.

TRIPLETS: The Flying Squirrels lead the Eastern League with 40 triples...Darren Ford leads the league with eight triples and Conor Gillaspie is tied for second with seven...The club ranks last in the league in doubles (166) and home runs (55) and has just one more extra-base hit (261) than New Britain (260).

UNBUCKLING THE BELT: In 106 games combined between Advanced-A San Jose and Double-A Richmond, first baseman Brandon Belt leads all of minor league baseball in batting average (.372) and on-base percentage (.471), is tied for second in slugging percentage (.639), and is fourth in hits (142)...The 22-year-old is batting .448 (13-for-29) with runners in scoring position in 29 games with the Flying Squirrels and is hitting .397 (46-for-116) overall with runners in scoring position this season...Belt homered for the first time since 7/15 against Bowie...He had gone 18 games and 75 at-bats between home runs.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 137 double plays in 111 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The Flying Squirrels have not gone more than three games without a double play this season...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Right-hander Mike MacDonald tossed the first nine-inning, complete-game shutout for the Flying Squirrels in last night's 10-0 win over the Fisher Cats...It was the longest outing of the season for a Richmond starter...It was the third time MacDonald went nine innings and the first since 6/27/06 when he went nine innings against Trenton while a member of the Fisher Cats.
