Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers have announced Saturday that RHP Wilmer Font has been transferred to the Round Rock Express. In a corresponding move, RHP Lisalverto Bonilla has been sent to Double-A Frisco.
Font racked up 10 saves with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders over his 26 games of action, posting a 1-2 record and 1.41 ERA. He tied current Express teammate Ben Rowen for the team-lead after saving his final game before being promoted to Round Rock, 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K at Arkansas on June 27. He spent time with High-A Myrtle Beach, Double-A Frisco and the Rangers last season. In three games with Texas in 2012, Font logged 2.0 innings, allowing two runs and walking four but did not permit a hit.
Bonilla posted a 5-5 record and 7.95 ERA in 26 games (two starts) with the Express. The right-hander was in his first action above the High-A level, starting the season with Triple-A Round Rock after coming to the Rangers organization in the trade that sent Michael Young to Philadelphia. Bonilla had allowed runs in six of his last seven outings, raising his ERA from 6.17 (June 8) to 7.95 after tossing a scoreless inning in relief June 28 vs. New Orleans.
With these moves, the Express roster sits at 24 active players, one shy of the Pacific Coast League limit.
The Express continues a four-game home stand with game three against the New Orleans Zephyrs at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night. Right-hander Evan Meek (1-3, 4.30 ERA) will take the ball for the E-Train while southpaw Brian Flynn (2-7, 4.03 ERA) will start for New Orleans. Saturday will be Used Car Night, presented by Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships at Dell Diamond as four themed used cars will be paraded around the field during select innings and raffled off during the game.
