Reno Aces News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Reno posted a four-run inning against Sacramento for the second-straight night, and this time it was enough to complete an 8-1 Aces victory over the River Cats at Raley Field.
With two outs in the top of the fourth, Juan Rivera singled to right field to plate Chris Owings for the first Reno run of the game. Alfredo Marte knocked his second home run of the season out of the park a batter later to drive in three more runs.
The Aces added a run to their lead in each of the next two innings and two runs in the ninth, ensuring a victory over the River Cats. Sacramento's lone run came on a solo homer off the bat of Shane Peterson in the second.
At the dish for Reno, Rivera went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Marte, who drove in four runs, Tyler Bortnick and Brad Snyder each recorded two hits on the night.
RHP Mike Bolsinger threw his third-straight quality start for the Aces, giving up just one run on nine hits through 6.0 innings. He struck out 10 batters, tying a career-high that he achieved twice in 2012 with Class-A Advanced Visalia. Reliever Brett Lorin allowed just one hit over 2.0 scoreless innings of work.
In his Triple-A debut, RHP Kevin Munson, who joined the Aces on Wednesday, worked himself out of a jam to throw a scoreless ninth. He allowed a hit and a walk, but struck out three to end the game.
The series continues Saturday at Raley Field. LHP Tyler Skaggs (5-6, 4.79 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the River Cats will counter with LHP Andrew Werner (7-9, 5.83 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
The Aces return home on Monday for a three-game series against the Salt Lake Bees. Tickets are on sale for all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
