Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. â The Greenville Grrrowl of the East Coast Hockey League announced on Thursday that goaltender DAN McINTYRE has been returned to the Atlantic Coast Hockey League's Winston-Salem Parrots. McIntyre was 0-2-0 with a 6.96 goals against average in 3 appearances with the Grrrowl this season. He was the leading goaltender in the ACHL with a record of 13-9-3 and a 2.04 GAA for the Parrots, before being signed by Greenville on January 30th.
Assistant Coach NICK VITTUCI, who is the ECHL's all-time winningest goaltender, was signed as an Emergency Back-Up. Vittuci will back-up DAMIAN RHODES for the two games this weekend.
RHODES has agreed to remain with the Grrrowl for the remainder of the season. "It's a chance for me to work myself back into game shape while staying in the Atlanta Thrashers system", said DAMIAN RHODES. "There's no substitute for practicing and being around the guys. I feel like I'm just warming up, and it's feels good to be back to 100 percent after the surgery."
Rhodes underwent hernia surgery in Montreal, Quebec on March 26, 2002. The St. Paul, Minnesota native has a record of 92-121-41 and a 2.83 GAA in 309 career National Hockey League games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Atlanta Thrashers.
The Grrrowl travel to the North Charleston Coliseum tomorrow (Friday) night to face the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:30 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). Then, Greenville returns home to host the Pee Dee Pride Saturday night at 7:05 PM (Pepsi/Charter Communications Trading Card Night). Tickets are available at the BI-LO Center Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. Log onto www.grrrowl.com for more information.
